Hanna’s Journey (Hannas Reise)

A co-presentation with City Shul and Consulate General of Israel in Toronto (Germany, 2013, Julia von Heinz, director, 100 minutes)

Hanna, an ambitious Berliner, travels to Israel to advance her career, confiding to her fiancé that “helping Jews scores points.”

Her cynicism is shortlived, as sparks fly in this charming romantic comedy.

Beautiful camera work by award-winning cinematographer Daniela Knapp forges a clear visual contrast between the hot, chaotic bustle of Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, and the wintry symmetry of Berlin.
